For Robert and Anette Rosenbach a long-held dream came true when they found this working farm in the scenic valley of McGregor, surrounded by vineyards, fynbos, a mystic range of mountains and next to the Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve. A wild fig tree gave the farm its name. Having relocated from Germany in 2009 they have turned the farm into a flourishing beauty where ecology and economy come together to make the best of nature and its products. They create an exclusive range of hand-picked and hand-crafted wines as well as distilling unique South African spirits in their 200 litre copper still which they brought with them from Germany.
Tanagra currently has 12.5 ha of vines in cultivation, mainly noble red wine cultivars. Tanagra is a boutique wine cellar producing only small amounts of high quality and unique red wines under the ‘Tanagra’ label.

Tanagra Blanc de Noir 2021/22
This pale rosé is elegant and dry yet still full of fruit on the palate which finishes with a touch of pepper and spice. Stunning!
Grapes: Cabernet Franc Alcohol: 13Tanagra Colombard 2021/22
A brilliantly made white, plenty of fruit left on the lees with a small proportion aged in oak. A hint of ripe tropical fruit along with lemon and lime peel along with structure and freshness make this a wine to search out. Who said Colombard couldn’t be classy!

Tanagra Heavenly Chaos 2020
Blue & black berries with a slightly herbal afternote, with hints of eucalyptus and violet. Deliciously smooth, with the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc slightly jazzing up the Merlot’s soft tannin.
Grapes: 74% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc Alcohol: 14%Tanagra Cabernet Franc 2016 / 2019
The Cabernet Franc grape is proving to be a success story for South Africa, this wine is no exception! This Cabernet Franc displays a dark & intense purple colour. Expect a symphony of raspberries, cassis, violets and hints of pepper. Rich finish with gentle ripe tannin and fruit. A few of the 2015 vintage bottles left please enquire.

Tanagra Shiraz 2017
The McGregor valley is ‘Shiraz country’ – it provides ideal conditions for producing rich and bold Shiraz. This Tanagra Shiraz shows a great balance between rich fruit and earthy spice. It is a bold and yet elegant wine with excellent structure.
Dark purple colour. Succulent fruit perfectly balanced with earthy spice. Rich and longlasting finish with gentle ripe tannin.
It is perfect to enjoy now or within (at least) the next 5 – 6 years.
Tanagra Orange Liqueur
A rich and juicy sweet symphony of orange flavours, blossom fragrance with orange peel and orange juice, strong citric – freshness, well balanced candy-like sweetness with a long after taste.
this drinks beautifully on its own but can be added to sparkling wines or works well as a cocktail ingredient.
